Charlie Brown
Something interesting that I love sharing with people (it makes for a great ice breaker) is that my Daddy's name is Charlie Brown! Very cool, I know! Perhaps even cooler is that he is the Original...I think he was born before the comic came out! Anyway...as if growing up with a Dad as cool as him wasn't cool enough, the fact that he is charlie Brown made it even cooler. And we've definitely made the evolution and run the gamut as far as Peanuts stuff goes...people often asked "is you're mom's name Lucy"-no actually her name is Charlotte! We've owned a dog and named him Snoopy, and Yes- my father even had the stereotypical Yellow shirt with Black zig-zag! He's a way cool guy, a wonderful father, and and amazing "Poppy" to my daughter...I guess you could say I'm a pretty lucky girl!

Did you know that Charlie Brown's creator, Charles Schultz had a wonderful affection (and generosity) for Sonoma State University in San Francisco, California? I was so fortunate to be able to spend 10 days there while attending an NEH (National Endowment for the Humanities) seminar all about Jack London and Beauty Ranch. You owe it to yourself in January to check out the NEH web site and see the amazing seminars that they will GENEROUSLY PAY YOU to attend and meet colleagues and life-long friends from all over the states! So your folks had Snoopy, you have a "Big-headed Bubby," and I have Buddy, a pure-bred cocker spaniel rescue. The 4-legged critters are wonderful snapshots of unconditional love, and in my case, a great asset in keeping the blood pressure down....One more question, can your dad dance the Charlie Brown????
ReplyDeleteThanks for that Info, Cindy...I'll have to check that out. I definitely love having my "big headed Bubby" in my life...those wrinkles and sad puppy dog eyes make it so hard to get mad at him...even when I find his slobber on the ceiling!! That's right, I said ceiling! Anyway, it sure is great having Charlie Brown as a dad...he's one of a kind and I'm sure if I asked him, he'd give that Charlie Brown dance a try...he's definetly got the football kick/fall routine down! Actually, when my mother and him met for the first time, it was on a farm when they were kids, and he was playing baseball in a field with his brothers and friends. When he saw my mom, he lost track of what he was doing and ended up slipping and falling on a cow pie! LOl...a Charlie Brown move for sure!
ReplyDeleteLyndsey,
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing all the pictures you have a beautiful family! How cool that your Dad's name is Charlie Brown ... even cooler is how much respect and love you have for him, I really admire that! My sister's name is Sally, but I only tease her when we watch the Pumpkin, Thanksgiving & Christmas episodes :)
